Prototyping has a long history at Motorola, reaching back to the founding of the original Galvin Manufacturing Company over 75 years ago. Our Rapid Prototyping Services, located in Motorola’s Plantation, Florida facility outside of Fort Lauderdale, has been instrumental in the development of a vast array of communications products since the early 1970’s. 
In 1998, recognizing the increasing importance of reducing time-to-market for new products to the company’s long term success, Motorola made the first in a series of strategic investments in prototyping, targeting new equipment, new technologies, expanded skill sets, and integrated software tools. This effort, in turn, sparked dramatic transformations in the scope and depth of our technical capabilities, leading to substantial gains in speed and productivity. At the same time our Prototyping operations implemented a strategy placing strong emphasis on quality, short lead-times and robust customer service – a strategy that has kept us in business during turbulent times for most North American manufacturers. Our staff members take great pride in their work, and consistently achieve high marks from our customers for their quality and dependability. Our on-time delivery has exceeded 95% for the past five years, delivering prototypes with some of the most aggressive schedules you’ll find anywhere. Our customer satisfaction is consistently over 98% (top 2 boxes) – likewise, with some of the most discriminating customers you’ll find anywhere. September 2008 was an important milestone for us, marking the initial launch of our public website. It was also an anniversary, marking 10 years since our first major expansion. We have continued to invest annually in our business, and have used our expanded capabilities to grow our customer base. Our prototype PC boards, models, parts, tools and assemblies are now shipped daily to product development teams around the U.S. and around the world. September 2008 also marked the expansion of our customer base beyond Motorola, its subsidiaries and suppliers, to include companies in wide range of new industries.
